Our waffle iron is smoking! Well, it was, because we haven’t brought it to Germany and although we manage well without it, the truth is that we miss it. ? It is very comfortable, clean and makes delicious dishes that we used to prepare in the oven in much less time, like our falafel waffles which are one of my favorite dishes.

These potato waffles are to die for, they are very filling and perfect to carry in a lunch box when we eat out. You can add your favorite sauce! We love this healthy ketchup which is prepared in a moment and it is a healthy alternative to commercial ketchup. If you also accompany the waffles with a delicious salad, you have a very complete, healthy and delicious dish.

  • 450 g de patatas peladas (1 libra)
  • 1/2 taza de leche de soja (125 ml)
  • 4 cucharadas de levadura nutricional o de cerveza
  • 2 cucharaditas de cebolla en polvo
  • 1 cucharadita de ajo en polvo
  • 1 cucharadita de sal marina
  • Pimienta negra al gusto
  • 1 taza de harina de trigo sarraceno (140 g)
  • 2 ajetes troceados (opcional)

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop the potatoes and cook them to steam for about 15-20 minutes or until tender.
  2. Put the potatoes in a bowl and allow them to cool slightly.
  3. Add the rest of the ingredients except the flour and garlic sprouts and stir until well combined.
  4. Add the flour and stir again stir. Add the garlic sprouts and stir again. The dough has to be similar to the one in the third photo.
  5. Preheat your waffle iron and when it is ready place the mixture on the waffle iron. Close the lid and cook over medium heat (we put it on position 3 of 5 on our waffle maker) for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and you can easily lift the lid off the waffle maker. If it’s hard for you, it’s because they’re not ready and they’ll break if you open them.
  6. Serve as is or with your favorite sauce (we use ketchup).
