As I mentioned in our post rice three delights I’ve been going to Chinese restaurants for as long as I can remember and spring rolls with sweet and sour sauce are one of the dishes I always order.

On this occasion we bring you the recipe for the sauce and we have not put it with the rolls because it is also used in many other dishes, in fact, Alberto, for example, usually adds it to three delights rice (I prefer to take it with soy sauce).



  • 1 cucharada de ketchup o de salsa de tomate
  • 1 cucharadita de salsa de soja
  • 2 cucharadas de vinagre (mejor de arroz)
  • 4 cucharadas de sirope de agave
  • 75 mililitros de agua
  • 2 cucharaditas de maizena


  1. In a bowl mix the ketchup or tomato sauce, soy sauce, vinegar and agave syrup.
  2. In a glass, pour the water and dissolve the cornstarch until smooth. Pour this mixture over the other ingredients and stir until fully integrated.
  3. In a saucepan, heat our sauce over high heat until it starts to boil, lower to medium heat and stir until sauce thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
