Chips de Plátano Macho

Although fruit and nuts are the snacks that I usually consume mid-morning and for an afternoon snack, from time to time I like to vary a little and make something more special, such as these plantain chips.

  • 1 pl├ítano macho, en rodajas
  • 2 cucharaditas de aceite de oliva virgen extra
  • 1/4 cucharadita de sal
  • 1/8 cucharadita de pimienta negra molida

  1. Preheat the oven to 190┬║C or 375┬║F.
  2. Put the banana slices in a bowl along with the oil and stir until well combined.
  3. Place the banana slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 25 minutes on one side. Flip and bake 5-10 minutes more or until golden brown.
  4. Remove the chips from the oven, transfer to a plate or bowl and add the salt and Pepper. Stir to mix well.
  5. You can have the chips hot or cold and eat them as they are or with your favorite sauce. I love them with guacamole.
  6. They are better freshly made, but you can store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for about 3 days.

  • You have to use plantains, regular plantains won’t work.
  • Add your favorite spices and herbs.
  • If not If you want to use oil, try my recipe for banana chips without oil.
