Sweet, tangy and decadent energy bites with orange zest and cardamom! Perfect for a quick snack or a healthier dessert. Only 6 ingredients, 15 minutes and 1 food processor required!


  • 1 Cup (packed) < span class="wprm-recipe-ingredient-name">pitted dates* (measured after pitting // 11 Medjool dates make about 1 cup)
  • 1/2 cup raw unsalted cashews (if nut-free, sub- Seeds of your choice, like hemp or sunflower)
  • 1/2 cup dried or grated unsweetened coconut
  • 1 pinch Sea salt
  • 3/4 – 1 ½ TL ground cardamom (depending on how fresh your cardamom and your personal preferences)
  • 1/2 cc (packaged) Orange peel*

TOPPING optional

  • 1 cc (packed) < span class="wprm-recipe-ingredientname">Orange peel
  • 3 soup Coconut flakes
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut Sugar


  • On the way to a Food Processor Add pitted dates, cashews, coconut, sea salt, cardamom and orange zest. Note: If you don’t have a food processor you can try using a blender, but dates can be difficult for blenders due to their sticky nature, so use a slow speed whenever possible and blend rather than blend.< /div>
  • Pulse until the mixture is crumbled and crumbly – we like to stop before it becomes completely mushy so the bites retain some texture. It should stick together when squeezed between two fingers; If still dry and crumbly, continue to process until sticky enough to form a ball. Taste and adjust as needed, adding more cardamom, orange zest or salt to taste.
  • If you are using the Coconut Cover , prepare it at this time. In a small bowl, combine the orange zest, grated coconut, and coconut sugar. Now it’s time to get the balls rolling!
  • Quantities remove by 1 tablespoon and roll into balls. As the original recipe is written, ~16 scoops. If using the coating, roll the balls in the coating until generously covered.
  • Enjoy immediately or store leftovers, covered, in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or in the freezer for up to 1 month. We enjoy them straight from the fridge or after leaving them at room temperature for 5-10 minutes.
