To make these tortillas you only need three ingredients, a bowl, a wooden spoon or a spatula, your hands and a frying pan. They do not have gluten or lactose and are also vegan. They are prepared at the moment because it is not a dough that has to rest and they are very tasty. They are the perfect tortillas!

We love Mexican food but the tortillas we used to buy were full of unhealthy ingredients and many times we craved one at the last minute and didn’t have it at home. Now that we always have cornmeal on hand, we can prepare it at any time because the other two ingredients are water and salt, and obviously we never lack them.



  • 350 gramos de harina de maíz blanco precocida
  • 480 gramos de agua
  • 2 cucharaditas de sal


  1. We cast in a bowl the corn flour, the salt and the water. It is important that the water is lukewarm, if it is cold the tortillas will break and if it is hot the dough will be chewy. We stir with the help of a spoon until it begins to cost you, then you put your hands in the bowl and start to knead. It usually takes us about 3 or 5 minutes for the dough to have the perfect consistency.
  2. When the dough is ready, we make balls of the About the size of an egg. Since we don’t have the gadget that is used to shape tortillas, we place transparent film or an open freezer bag on the table, put our ball of dough, cover again with film or with another bag, and with the help of a bowl we flatten the dough until it has the shape of an omelette. Ideally, they should be as thin as possible, 1 or 2 millimeters thick.
  3. In a pan > or greased griddle (we add a drop of oil and spread it with a paper napkin) add the tortillas and leave them over medium-high heat until golden brown, about 2 minutes per each side.
