Hi Hi! Today I bring you the recipe for Homemade Chocolate Bread that I presented to you last week by Instagram.
This recipe is designed to give yourself a sweet treat on any given day, obviously it is not the typical bread with which you would make toast every day. It is not a particularly healthy recipe, because it contains ingredients that we should not abuse, so let’s take it as a whim.
Ingredients
400 grams of strong flour + reserve
10 grams of fresh yeast (not to be confused with sachet yeast)
150 ml of milk vegetable
1 bar of dark chocolate
Orange peel
Lemon peel
3 tablespoons of 100% vegetable margarine
Cinnamon powder
A vanilla-flavored soy yogurt
Agave syrup or your favorite sweetener
Optional: agave syrup to paint the surface of the bread
*We will need parchment paper
Step by step
- Weigh 400 grams of flour and reserve in a large bowl (in the photo you will see 300, but then I added 100 more).
- On the other hand, we calculate the 150 ml of non-dairy milk (more or less 1/2 cup).
- In the cup, we introduce the crumbled yeast with your hands. Beat with a fork until broken.
We weigh the flour and prepare the vegetable milk. p>
- Then, we cut a piece of orange peel and another of lemon and let them macerate in the milk.
- Add a minimum of 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon (although I finally added 1 whole).
- On the other hand, heat until the 3 tablespoons of margarine melt. When it is melted, add it to the flour and mix well.
Let’s flavor the milk and add cinnamon and vegetable margarine to the flour.
- Add the yogurt, 2 tablespoons of syrup and the flavored vegetable milk, having previously removed the lemon and orange skins and beat with a fork to distribute well the yeast for the milk.
The amount of sweetener can be adapted to your personal tastes. With this amount there is a very very soft sweetness, if you like very sweet breads add more. - Knead well until the ingredients are mixed properly.
- We take the chocolate bar and chop it with a knife, into small cubes.
- Add everything to the dough and knead for 3 minutes, with force and energy. If the dough sticks to you, you can sprinkle
- Sprinkle a little flour on the table and put the dough on top, and knead for 5 more minutes.
- Now, we make a ‘churro’ and cut it into six parts. Look at the photo below.
We knead the dough for our chocolate bread. p>
- Now, we take each of the cuts, knead it and roll it into a ball.
- Place the buns on the tray from the oven with the parchment paper on.
- Let it rise for 1 hour.
- Later, we paint them with a little agave syrup, and with a spoon we spread it well over the the entire surface of the pan.
Let rise and bake.

- Put in the oven, turned on with a fan, at 180 degrees. The average baking time is about 35 / 45 minutes, but this can vary a lot depending on the type of oven. After 25 minutes, try to pay attention.
- When the outside is golden, remove it from the oven and let it cool.
- Open it in the middle and fill it with chocolate or eat it bites
