Jar of Curried Chickpea Fried Rice is the perfect homemade gift that can be made with staples you may already have! This one pot recipe can be made in the Instant Pot or with a regular pot. Gluten Free & refined without sugar.

  • 1 1/2 Tassen (280 g) Riz-Basmati-Blanc
  • Preparation

  • For this gift jar, you will need a large quart-sized mason jar and a smaller jar for the spices. We keep rice and spices separate so the rice can be washed before use.
  • Add the rice to the large mason jar. In the smaller jar, add any spices and salt, if using, then close the lid. (Instead of all the spices, you can add 2-3 teaspoons of your favorite curry or garam masala powder). Add this spice jar to the larger jar.
  • Bid this to a large glass with a can of chickpeas or other beans that you want to give away. Tie a few knots, write the instructions, and offer them.
  • To use this jar, take the small jar out of the big jar. Empty the rice into a bowl. Add some water and wash the rice, drain, add more water and soak for at least 15 minutes.
  • Open the box of chickpeas. Drain, wash and set aside.
  • Oil your instant pot well and then add your rice drained. Add all spices. Add chickpeas. You can add your chopped veggies and soy sauce if using. I like to use a mixture of carrots, peas, peppers, beans. You can also add 1 or 2 chopped tomatoes if you like. Then add the water and mix well.
  • If you really want the rice to separate, then 1 3/4 cups is the amount of water you want to use. The rice will be fluffy like fried rice. If you want it softer, use 2 cups of water.
  • Stir well, then close the lid and under Pressure cook 6 minutes. Then release the pressure for 8 minutes and then release quickly.
  • Let the rice rise well, then immediately remove the inner pot out of the pot because the bottom plate stays hot and the rice continues to cook and the rice may overcook.
  • Serve with your choice of non-dairy yogurt or chutneys, or one of their dals or curries.
