Very good to all! Today I bring an entertaining recipe for you to spend a little while in the kitchen entertained. With the times of quarantine that run… It does not hurt to be entertained. I bring you some caramelized onion tartlets, vegan cheese and walnuts, with a homemade dough that is very easy to make.

This snack is amazing because it is very versatile: it can be a snack for Christmas, for a dinner with friends or to have at home and snack. It has a very elegant character and, so that I am going to deceive you, it is delicious.

Ingredients

100 grams of spelled flour
1 onion
Vegan cheese to melt
Walnuts
50 ml of hot water
1 teaspoon of Brown Sugar or Agave Syrup
A pinch of Ginger powder
A pinch of Cinnamon
A pinch of Rosemary
Olive Oil
Salt
*Optional , if you don’t have much skill: Tartlet molds

Step by step

  1. Peel and chop the onion. Add to a pan and brown over medium heat along with a splash of olive oil.
  2. When the onion is turning transparent, add the sweetener that we are going to use (I add 1 small teaspoon of syrup agave) and toast for 5 more minutes. If using grain sweetener, use 1-2 tsp. small.
  3. Sauté and when it is poached and tender, turn off and reserve.
  4. Meanwhile, mix in a bowl the spelled flour, the ginger powder, the cinnamon, a pinch of salt, rosemary and a tablespoon of olive oil.
  5. Add the 50 ml of hot water and knead.
  6. Remove the dough to a clean floured surface and knead with your hands until a homogeneous and smooth texture is obtained.
  7. Stretch the dough, cut it into circular portions and adapt the dough cutouts to the tartlet moulds. If you don’t use molds, you simply have to cut in circles and lift the edges (folding inwards or giving volume to the sides).
  8. Fill with the caramelized onion, a few cubes of vegan cheese and place in the oven at 180 degrees, about 35 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and decorate with the walnuts.
  10. Serve and enjoy!
